Myo Kings Cross, Landsec

Ekkist are working closely with SODA Architectural Studio and Landsec on their Myo King's Cross flexible office space, targeting WELL Platinum Certification and aiming to achieve one of the highest WELL Scores that Ekkist have advised on.

The newly proposed flexible Myo office space in London’s Kings Cross has been designed to focus on health and well-being as it’s unique proposition, with the goal of creating the healthiest flexible workspace in London.

Landsec, Ekkist and SODA Architectural Studio have worked closely together to implement a design strategy that addresses every aspect of office worker’s health and well-being, supporting both mental and physical health.

The offices combine a series of characterful spaces, making the most of the rich heritage of the site, comprising historic stables elements as well as newer additions. The design has centred on well-being through the use of tactile, natural materials, including the reuse of materials previously present on site being adapted by Central Saint Martin’s design students into new furnishings, while also ensuring no harmful chemicals are added in the upcycling process.

The material specification throughout the scheme is centred on biophilic design, using natural colours and finishes, exposed timber finishes and clay plaster.

The building maximises occupants’ access to daylight and ensures that all electric light is of a high quality, limiting any potential issues with glare and flicker.

There are numerous communal spaces thoughtfully planned to encourage either movement and fitness, social interaction, or mindful eating away from desks, to support healthier working days and to encourage high quality restful breaks away from work that support a parasympathetic nervous response.

The building is currently targeting WELL Platinum Certification and is aiming to achieve one of the highest WELL Scores that Ekkist have advised on.
