Home Quality Mark

Ekkist support clients wanting to assess the viability of pursuing the Home Quality Mark (HQM) and those wanting to construct HQM approved homes and masterplans. We advise on projects from RIBA stages 0-7, but recommend starting ahead of RIBA Stage 3 where possible.

At Ekkist, we use the Home Quality Mark (HQM) to support residential developers and individuals who buy and rent new homes. HQM helps house builders to demonstrate the high quality of their homes and to differentiate them in the marketplace. At the same time, it gives prospective homeowners the confidence that the new homes they are choosing to buy or rent are well designed and built, and cost effective to run.

Developed by BRE, the UK’s leading building science centre, the Home Quality Mark is based on years of building standards experience, and is part of the successful BREEAM family of quality and sustainability standards.

The Home Quality Mark provides impartial information on a new home’s quality and sustainability. It clearly indicates to householders high standards for running costs, health and wellbeing benefits, and the environmental footprint associated with living in the home. HQM helps individuals and organisations understand the quality, performance and attributes of a new-build home.

Ekkist provide guidance on achieving the Home Quality Mark by working closely with clients and their design teams to produce documentation and evidence to support their HQM application.
